How do you spend New Year's Eve in Tulum?
There are five ways people do it here: a jungle festival, a beach party, a long dinner with a show, a table at a club, or your own villa. Most groups combine two — dinner first, then a party — and the one thing they all have in common is that the good versions sell out early.
Which festivals run over New Year?
Zamna opens its season on December 31 and runs into January, Tehmplo announces single nights around New Year, and Day Zero lands a few days later in January. These are jungle venues outside town with big production and late finishes, and the tickets go in phases.

What are the beachfront options?
If you want sand rather than jungle, the beach hotels and clubs run their own New Year's Eve nights: dinner, live music and DJ sets, performances and a sunrise that does most of the work. Papaya Playa Project, Gitano and the Nomade–Be Tulum celebration are the names that come up most.
Space at the smaller ones is limited, which is why they sell out first. Ask us early if a specific one is on your list.
Where do groups have dinner before midnight?
Tulum's restaurants run fixed New Year's Eve menus with shows, drums and a champagne toast: Rosa Negra, Ilios, Bagatelle and Gitano all do a version of it. Dinner usually runs until shortly before midnight, which leaves the rest of the night free for a table somewhere else.
We book the dinner and the party as one plan, including the ride between them.
Is a VIP table worth it on New Year's Eve?
On the busiest night of the year, a table is the difference between queueing for every drink and having somewhere to sit. It also guarantees entry. Bonbonniere, Taboo, Tantra and Vagalume all offer tables with bottle service, and minimum spends are highest on December 31.

Can we celebrate at our villa instead?
Yes, and for a group it is often the calmest and the most fun: a private chef dinner, a bartender, a DJ, decoration and a champagne toast at midnight, without transport at 3 am. We arrange the whole setup in a villa we have visited ourselves.
What about January 1?
The first day of the year is usually slow until noon and then spent on the water. A boat or catamaran day with swimming and a late lunch is the most requested plan, and a sound healing or beach yoga session is the other way people start the year.
